Causa Sui – Vibraciones Doradas (El Paraiso – 2017)

causa sui

———Causa Sui from Denmark don’t need too many introductions. This is their 11th full-lenght.

———The Drop is a stoned intro a la Kyuss, space in the middle, more liquid and relaxed at the end.

———-El Fuego it’s a long track, with a desert intro a la Desert Session, guitar + wha, then it turns into a relaxing 3/4 tempo with organs and delayed guitars, later it grows and sometimes it seems some of Motorpsycho, then back to the desert with Colour Haze.

———Viborera is a sort of ethereal acoustic/electronic interlude before Seven Hills that leads us to the desert one more. Rhythm is more fast and compact but the sound is the same. A nice groove here with a nice crescendo.

———Vibraciones Doradas is the heaviest track here, but their instruments are out of tune, probably due to the down-tuning. Very nice the final, just listen (Motorpsycho, Colour Haze, Void Generator).

———The album is well recorded and produced with simple formulas that they are able to gives us as fresh.
Don’t try to find something new here, just sure formulas, just Causa Sui.

A1 The Drop 7:12
A2 El Fuego 11:24
A3 Viborera 2:08
B1 Seven Hills 7:25

The Spacelords – Water Planet (Tonzonen – 2017)

spacelords

———German Spacelords, aka Matthias Wettstein (guitar, vocals), Klaus Werz (bass, synthesizer), Marcus Schnitzler (drums, djembe, percussion, effects, vocals) are a good space / jam band that reached its 6th full-lenght.

———Imagine an instrumental Hawkwindesque trio with straight, direct and simple rhythmic that won’t betrays.

———You know how the songs start and you can be sure that the emotion arrives, just because all is direct to that.

Nothing new, of course, but they are able to lead you in nice and groovy territories, well known and beloved.

1 Plasma Thruster 11:0
2 Metamorphosis 11:49
3 Nag Kanya 19:34

Les Lekin – Died With Fear (Tonzonen – 2017)

les lekin

———Les Lekin from Salzburg, Austria is: Peter G. (guitar), Beat B. (bass), Kerstin W. (drums) and they want to play a sort of stoned / psych / jam / space/ heavy psych stuff.

———Three years after ‘All Black Rainbow Moon‘ (2104) they still don’t persuade.

———Production is really poor, the mix is not good, performance too, during the whole 4 long songs.

They have some good ideas here and there, but they need to grow.

1. Orca 10:38
2. Inert 10:19
3. Vast 08:57
4. Morph 13:34

Void Generator – Prodromi (Phonosphera 2017)

prodromi

———Void Generator from Rome are back since Supersound (2014) with a different platter. Prodromi is a real free rehearsal impro recorded by only a mic, the audio quality is not really the best indeed, but the feel is very good.

———Two guitars (Gianmarco Iantaffi and Sonia Caporossi) and a synth (Enrico Cosimi aka Tau Ceti) run together, on a solid job of the drummer (Marco Cenci) in vein of Hotel Wrecking City Traders but more spaced out, so they (we) don’t even know where and how the song will end.

———Four long tracks, hints of Colour Haze or Motorpsycho here and there that need a double listening to be into that hypnotic release.

A real jamming trip where the only downside is the audio quality.

2. Sleeping Waves 13:45
3. I Am The Brave 13:40

Lamagaia – Lamagaia (Cardinal Fuzz – 2017)

Lamagaia

———Lamagaia are from Gothenburg, Sweden, this is their first full-lenght in vein of Papir, Causa Sui or something like kosmische kraut, space, jam and so on.

———Two long tracks, one per side, a common styled psychedelic rock run, not so well played but still enjoyable.

———Aurora is made by a verse same as itself from the beginning, Paronama vju is a bit more relaxing up to slip into a sort of Manuel Göttsching song from Ashra, then a bit more loud and rockish.

———Soloing is almost always poor, the rhythmic pulse is always the same but good.

Not so bad, but their still need to grow.

A Aurora 16:41
B Paronama vju 18:55

Hotel Wrecking City Traders – Passage To Agartha (Cardinal Fuzz – 2017)

hotel wrecking city traders

———Aussie HWCT, aka Ben Matthews [aka Ben Wrecker] (drums), Toby Matthews [aka Toby Wrecker] (guitar) made excellent stuff years ago with Gary Arce (Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man) but not this time.

———‘An instrumental noise rock duo with a heavy focus on improvisation and a love of loud volume and the psychedelic. Their sound is ever-evolving and expansive, breaking down genre’s and throwing them in a melting pot with hypnotic results.’

———But this time their platter(s) (quite long) is not so good as some previous ones. It seems to hear things heard yet, still enjoyable though.
